ABOUT THE FACULTY
In the relatively short time of its existence, the faculty as a separate unit of the university has made significant achievements. The faculty is multiplying the traditions of classical education in the field of psychology, introducing innovative teaching technologies. A lot of work is being done to create an own, original, practice-oriented model of training specialists in the field of practical psychology, which provides graduates with competitiveness in the labor market and, accordingly, decent earnings, allows them to occupy leadership positions in various areas of psychological science and practice.
The faculty has a strong personnel potential. Today, it employs 35 full-time scientific and pedagogical workers, including 2 doctors of science, professors (1 is an academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine) and 26 candidates of sciences, associate professors.
The structure of the Faculty of Psychology includes three departments - in-depth correction and psychological and social rehabilitation, psychology and applied psychology. 450 full-time and part-time students study at the faculty.
The curriculum of the faculty is focused on the study of both fundamental professional disciplines and a powerful block of applied courses. Much attention is paid to updating the system of training specialists, organizational and scientific-methodological support of the educational process.
Future specialists have the opportunity not only to acquire theoretical knowledge and practical skills, but also to undergo personal psychocorrection, which will help optimize relationships with others, promote the development of professionally significant personal qualities, and self-improvement.
The faculty has established close ties with other universities of Ukraine and abroad. Psychology students have the opportunity to listen to lectures by famous scientists and practicing psychologists, communicate with future colleagues, exchange ideas and organize scientific discussions at International and All-Ukrainian student scientific conferences and scientific and practical seminars, visit other educational institutions and receive guests within the walls of their native university. Such measures contribute to the formation of professional skills and abilities, the development of professional potential.
Student life is not limited to educational and research activities. Its content depends primarily on the Student Council of the faculty. The organization of educational work with students helps to solve the problems of professional development. Student activity is the initiator and organizer of many events at the faculty. Good traditions have been started at the faculty, among them: "Freshman's Week", "Psychology Week", "From Session to Session", "Holiday of the Graduate", "The Faculty Has Talents", "Miss Faculty", creative meetings, trips to the university health center .
Students are given the opportunity to live in a dormitory with 2-3 people per room and attend 3-4 courses of military training under the reserve officer training program with the rank of junior lieutenant.
The efforts of the faculty dean's office to implement the ideas of humanism in the educational process and professional life are clearly manifested, first of all, in the style of business communication of the faculty staff: any important issues are resolved collegially, with maximum approximation to the needs of each student and faculty employee.
EMPLOYMENT PROSPECTS
Having received a specialty in psychology, you will have the prospect of becoming a scientist, a teacher of higher and secondary educational institutions, a methodologist in psychology, an employee of law enforcement, medical institutions, security agencies, a psychologist in schools, social rehabilitation institutions, centers of provision of psychological assistance to the population, HR manager, psychologist-consultant in the company. Psychologist positions exist in prisons, boarding schools and orphanages. Employment is possible in institutions of artistic direction (art, music, drama).
Today's realities cause an urgent need for highly qualified psychologists who would provide practical assistance to citizens in solving various problems: the consequences of experiencing mental trauma, depression, fear or phobia, physical or psychological addiction, communication difficulties, problems at work and in the family , self-doubt, anxiety for unknown reasons, various complexes, panic and confusion before new changes, passivity, difficulties in adaptation, complications of the age crisis, etc.
"Psychology" comes from the Greek words "psyche" - soul and "logos" - teaching, science, which means that, starting the path of mastering the profession of a psychologist, you will be involved in learning about the most complex, the most secret and the most interesting - the human psyche. Psychology will teach you a joyful perception of life and a sense of happiness, will help you always achieve success and be a winner in all situations, and increasing your social activity and adaptability will contribute to your own career.
Remember, the future of our country, the progressiveness of its political and economic transformations, the health of the nation largely depend on the development of psychology and on those who feel called to it and have the appropriate potential.
